THREE GENERATIONS OF SERVICE TO GREATER BATON ROUGE
Sherman Credit opened its doors on North Boulevard on October 22, 1991, in association with Mrs. Rita Sherman, its namesake. Mrs. Sherman, a veteran in consumer finance, joined forces with Mr. Carl Cooper to establish a family-owned, family-operated business dedicated to providing for the financial needs of an underserved community. Today, three generations later, Sherman Credit continues the family legacy created by “Mr. Carl,” who dedicated his life to establishing and maintaining personalized, face-to-face relationships with thousands of customers, their children, and their grandchildren.
In 1995, Mr. Carl’s son-in-law, Shawn Sagrera, joined the family business and continued to build on the reputation of Sherman Credit, building our customer base and further integrating our services into the Greater Baton Rouge Community, while never losing site of our goal to treat each customer as the most important person in the room.
Thirty-one years later, Mr. Carl’s grandson, Matthew Sagrera, brought a third-generation’s involvement to Sherman Credit in March of 2022. Following the traditions established by his grandfather, and under the tutelage of his father, Matthew leads Sherman Credit today with the same uncompromising commitment to personalized service, while incorporating new technological improvements that include a stronger Internet presence, online payments and application processes, electronic communications capabilities, and more.
Today, Sherman Credit provides easy, affordable loans for any number of reasons, including auto expenses and used car purchases, home maintenance, vacations, and other individual/family financial needs.
